The School…

Jonesboro School of Art is owned and operated by award winning portrait artist, Tanya Eddy.  JSA is an after school art program, offering art instruction for students Kindergarten through High School.  All students are exposed to art history through the study of works by both the great masters and modern day artists.  Younger students are introduced to General Art classes, which will develop their skills for the older, advanced classes.  Junior and Senior High students concentrate their studies in the areas of Drawing, Painting, and Design.  (A portfolio compilation program is available for Sr. High Students.)

In August 2009, Jonesboro School of Art opened its doors to 6 students.  Through the Lord's blessings, JSA has grown to over 80 artists.  Since opening, our students have successfully participated in art competitions throughout Arkansas and Tennessee, bringing home dozens of awards.

Mrs. Tanya...
A digital artist specializing in photo realism, Tanya Eddy is the proprietor of the Jonesboro School of Art, an outlet which she has utilized to share her love of art with hundreds of students.
Among the various influences upon her work, Edward Hopper is foremost.  His focus upon recreating the daily lives of the average person, is shared by Tanya in her attention to detail while portraying the extraordinary of the ordinary.
Throughout the years, this work has been awarded such distinguished accolades as the Ethel F. Kamberg memorial prize for portrait art from the St. Louis Artist's Guild and featured in an issue of the Artist's Magazine.  Additionally, her portraits have been displayed in various galleries and private collections throughout the United States.
Miss Maya...
For seven years, Maya has assisted in and taught classes for children in preK through fourth grade at the Jonesboro School of Art; this experience has furthered her love for working with children and encouraged her to follow a career path with this objective.
Maya is a student at Arkansas State University-Newport, where she is pursuing degrees in both English and Spanish.  Afterwards, she will be seeking a degree in Youth Ministry, where she hopes to utilize, not only her knowledge of languages, but also her experience as an art teacher, to reach children with the Gospel and continue in her passion of teaching them.
